CapCap — Keycap Keyboard
1. Information we collect
CapCap does not collect what you type with the keyboard and does not send it to any server. The developer has no server to receive it. The limited technical information collected by third-party services included in the app (ads, app usage statistics, and crash reports) is described in Section 7.
- What you type: processed on your device and not sent anywhere.
- App settings: your chosen keycap set, sound and vibration, and keyboard settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device.
- Purchase status: the app remembers on your device which products you own. Payment information is handled by Google Play; CapCap does not receive it.
- What the keyboard stores on your device: see Section 2.
2. CapCap keyboard
When you use the CapCap keyboard (input method), what you type is processed on your device. The keyboard stores the following in the app's private storage on your device. This data is not included in Android Auto Backup or device-to-device transfer.
- Tap accuracy learning: how you tap keys (average position per key, sample counts, recent touch points, correction counts). The letters you type and their order are not stored. Turning off tap accuracy in keyboard settings deletes it.
- Recent emoji and chosen skin tone: used to show recent emoji and your default skin tone in the emoji panel.
- Clipboard history (optional, off by default): only if you turn on clipboard history in keyboard settings, the keyboard stores text it sees on the clipboard and when it was copied. It does not store images or files, clips that an app marks as sensitive (such as password managers), text read while connected to a password field, text that looks like a verification code, or text longer than 10,000 characters. Unpinned items disappear and are deleted 1 hour after copying, up to 20 items. Pinned items stay until you delete them (up to 20). Turning off clipboard history deletes all stored history immediately.
In password fields, key previews are not shown and copied or deleted text is not remembered.
SMS verification codes: when a text message arrives while you are in a verification code field, Google Play services asks you whether CapCap may see that one message (SMS User Consent). If you allow it, only the code is shown above the keys and the message is not stored. CapCap does not request permission to read SMS, and you can turn this feature off in keyboard settings.
Voice input: the voice button hands off to a voice input method installed on your device (for example, Google voice typing). That input method processes your voice; CapCap does not listen to or store audio.
3. Permissions
The only permission CapCap itself requests is vibration. It does not request SMS, microphone, contacts, or location permissions. Internet access is used for ads on app screens (Google AdMob), for purchases (Google Play), and for app usage statistics and crash reports (Firebase), and not for sending what you type.
4. How we use information
Information stored on your device is used only to provide keyboard features (tap accuracy, emoji, clipboard history) and keep your settings. Ad data is used by Google AdMob to show ads on app screens. App usage statistics and crash reports (Firebase, Section 7) are used only to improve the app and fix errors.
5. Retention and deletion
Data stored on your device is deleted when you uninstall the app. Keyboard data (Section 2) is deleted when you turn off the feature in keyboard settings, delete items from clipboard history, or reset learning on the tap accuracy screen. CapCap's data is not included in Android device backups.
6. Sharing with third parties
CapCap does not share what you type or app data with anyone. The third-party services in Section 7 receive the technical information they each collect.
7. Third-party services
- Google AdMob: used for banner ads on app screens (main and set list) and an ad when the app opens. No ads are shown on the keyboard. AdMob may collect information such as the advertising ID, device information, and approximate location based on IP address to serve and personalize ads. In regions such as the European Economic Area, consent is requested through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), and you can change your choice under "Privacy options" in the app's settings. If you purchase Remove Ads or Unlock All Sets, ads are no longer shown and the ad SDK is not started from then on. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- Google Play Billing: used to process one-time in-app purchases (Unlock All Sets, Remove Ads). Purchase and payment data is handled by Google Play.
- Google Play services (SMS User Consent): used for SMS verification codes described in Section 2.
- Firebase Analytics (Google): used to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. It collects app usage events, such as screens viewed, the keycap set you choose, whether the keyboard is turned on and whether it was used each day, and opening the purchase screen and purchase results, together with the app instance ID and device information such as device model, OS version, language, and country. It is set not to collect the advertising ID. It does not receive what you type, the app you are typing in, your clipboard, or verification codes. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google): when the app crashes, it sends a report (with information such as device model, OS version, app version, and a stack trace showing where in the code the error occurred) with an installation identifier so the cause can be fixed. CapCap does not put what you type in these reports.
8. Children's privacy
CapCap does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.
